Straight from an article on PR.com, we have this juicy bit of reality: In this economy, most employers seem to be conducting drug tests as part of their pre-employment screenings.
As the story explains, the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) recently released a study suggesting that up to three-quarters of the 296 employers i4cp surveyed have some type of drug screening policy in place. And out of those employers, around 95% of the companies pre-screen for drugs before employment begins.
What does this mean? Basically, if you’re laid off or just looking for new employment, it’s best to make sure that you can pass a drug screening. If you can’t, you may just find yourself unemployed for much longer than you originally assumed.
